Rubén Nieto is a Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering and Electronic Technology at Rey Juan Carlos University. He is involved in teaching of Electronic Systems Design and Design Of Electronic Circuits And Systems and his main research interests include robotics, cloud computing, FPGAs, System-on-Chip, among others.
He received his formation at the University of Alcalá, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree and his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electronics: Advanced Electronic Systems and Intelligent Systems. After obtaining his PhD, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the same University.

The main contribution of the project is the definition, design and development of a comprehensive system capable of using the power consumption from a home to non-intrusively monitor the daily activity of tenants, and use that information to digitize care at home, as well as to foster independent living of elderly, with a certain degree of dependency, and/or cognitive disorders, in rural areas with low population density.
